John has been the Commander in Chief of Explorator Group since 2019 and has steered the group through its first three acquisitions supplemented by three years of organic growth from initial start-up.
A Chartered Accountant, business coach and financial consultant for many years and between 2012 and 2023 John also ran EGIAN, the representative office of the mid-tier networks and associations of the international accounting profession on European regulatory affairs.
From 1993 until its sale for £70m in 2009, John was a key partner of RSM Bentley Jennison where from 2001 he was appointed a Group Board member and led the £40m private sector division of this top 15 accountancy group in the UK.
From 2007 it was the exclusive UK member firm for RSM International, the 7th largest accountancy network in the world. John started with 15 years at KPMG where he qualified as a chartered accountant, chartered tax adviser and registered auditor and first honed his corporate finance skills.

In addition to his client relationships David heads our Tax and Accounting Support Services team. David has considerable tax planning expertise and provides a technical service to the other directors and staff within Clemence Hoar Cummings, David also has substantial sector expertise within the legal, recruitment and construction sectors.
After graduating, David trained at a firm in Sidcup for four years where he qualified before moving to the Sevenoaks office of a national firm and then moved to their Croydon office. After four years of larger firm experience he joined the Dartford office of a medium sized firm and stayed there for four more years before David Belbin asked him to join Clemence Hoar Cummings to work alongside his long standing partner Richard Bransbury as he scaled down his work ahead of retirement.
David lives in Orpington and aside from work David has helped build up a mens’ exercise group which through sponsored duathlons and triathlons is raising money for a local charity.

David combines his role as managing partner of Clemence Hoar Cummings with his client relationships.
David has served on the ICAEW’s National Technical Advisory Committee and also holds the diploma in Charity Accounting from the ICAEW which recognises experience and expertise in the sector. He also chairs the CharterGroup healthcare business development group which shares knowledge in this sector between the member firms.
He trained with a medium sized firm after graduating before moving to the Chelmsford office of a national firm where he qualified in 1988. In 1991 he joined Gane Jackson Scott in Gidea Park and became a partner in 1992. He led the merger with Clemence Hoar Cummings in 2001.
David enjoys running, swimming and other sports and has for many years been treasurer of his local church in Chelmsford, and has been chair of governors at a local school.
